About The Position

This Registered Nurse (RN) position is for Ambulatory Care within the Maternal Health Improvement Center, specifically supporting a mobile clinic located at 85. West Miller St. Orlando FL. 32806. The role is full-time, Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM. The RN will be responsible for supporting Fetal non-stress tests, triage, medication administration, and assisting one advanced practice provider. Key duties also include chart preparation, assisting with order entry, completing clinical paperwork for patients, and acting as a liaison between patients and providers. This RN role is crucial for the daily operations of the mobile care unit, ensuring excellent patient care in the community. The position involves utilizing unique knowledge, skills, and competencies in ambulatory care nursing to promote wellness, restore health, address health-related problems, and support end-of-life care. The RN will assess patient needs, develop individualized care plans based on evidence-based practice, and provide age-appropriate care. Responsibilities also include prescribing, delegating, coordinating, and documenting patient care, demonstrating competency in nursing skills and equipment use, prioritizing care, problem identification and resolution, delegating tasks, communicating patient information, maintaining a safe environment, integrating patient and family education, participating in Process Improvement activities, and ensuring compliance with legal issues, patient rights, and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Maintains current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required for certain areas.
  • 1 year experience required unless approved by AVP level or above.

Responsibilities

  • Support Fetal non stress tests, triage, medication administration, and support one advanced practice provider.
  • Do chart preparation, assist with order entry, complete any clinical paperwork for patients, and serve as a liaison between patient and provider.
  • Utilize the unique knowledge, skills, and competencies required in ambulatory care nursing practice to promote wellness, restore health, address health-related situational problems and/or support end-of-life care.
  • Assess patients’ needs and apply current ambulatory care nursing knowledge and evidence-based nursing practice when developing an individualized plan of care for each patient.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on assigned unit.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, assess the data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the necessary information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to age-specific needs.
  • Prescribe, delegate, coordinate, and document patient care in a knowledgeable, skillful, and consistent manner. This includes but is not limited to patient assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and patient safety.
  • Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit-specific requisite skills.
  • Prioritize patient care in an ongoing manner in accordance with Evidence-Based Practice Standards of Care.
  • Practice effective problem identification and resolution.
  • Delegate tasks and duties to healthcare team members in accordance with the patient’s needs and the team member’s capabilities and qualifications.
  • Communicate appropriate information regarding patient condition or unit concerns to other health care team members.
  • Maintain a safe and caring environment for both patients and family.
  • Integrate patient and family education throughout the delivery of care.
  • Participate in Process Improvement activities as assigned.
  • Demonstrate awareness of legal issues, patients’ rights and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
