Indian River Hospital’s 3E Additional Care/Telemetry Overflow Unit cares for cardiac patients and monitors their heart rhythms. Caregivers in this unit may clean and shave a patient’s skin to place electrodes, replace electrodes daily, change batteries in a telemetry device, help someone when their monitor’s alarm sounds and explain telemetry to patients.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• One year of current acute care RN experience.
• Will consider licensed military RN experience.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and their families.
