About The Position

Covington Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking full-time Admissions Registered Nurses (RNs) for night shifts (10-hour shifts). The hospital specializes in treating adult and adolescent patients experiencing acute changes in their emotional and mental well-being. The role involves facilitating admissions, conducting clinical intake assessments, and managing utilization review processes to ensure continuity of care for patients. Responsibilities include reviewing medical documentation, completing medication reconciliation, obtaining admission orders, and facilitating emergency transfers when necessary. The position also requires collaboration with medical and psychiatric personnel, conducting assessments to determine appropriate levels of care, and managing insurance benefit verifications.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Associate's degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum one year of experience in a clinical or observational capacity, preferably in a relevant specialty.
  • Clear and active nursing license in the state.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire).

  • Experience in behavioral health settings.
  • Familiarity with insurance processes and pre-authorization procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate admissions and clinical intake assessments.
  • Conduct utilization review processes to ensure appropriate level of care.
  • Review medical documentation for all admissions and complete medication reconciliation.
  • Obtain admission orders from physicians.
  • Facilitate emergency transfers for patients with medical conditions outside facility capabilities.
  • Review referrals from hospitals and community agencies for medical and behavioral acuity.
  • Respond to inquiries about the facility and provide recommendations.
  • Conduct assessments to determine appropriate level of care within the facility.
  • Collaborate with medical and psychiatric personnel for admissions.
  • Facilitate the admissions process including assessment, consent, and inventory of patient belongings.
  • Perform insurance benefit verifications and secure pre-authorization for treatment and admission.
  • Monitor patient status throughout the admissions process.
  • Utilize web-based programs to track and review referrals.
  • Communicate projected admissions to internal representatives promptly.
  • Ensure clinical information from referral sources is received prior to patient admission.
  • Schedule and complete pre-admission assessments when applicable.
  • Prepare and maintain medical record documentation for authorization.
  • Complete admission and consent forms with the patient.
  • Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude toward customers.
  • Conduct safety checks and ensure supervision at required intervals.
