The Resuscitation Specialist for the Resuscitation Management program is an expert in the specialty of code management, clinical outcomes, patient safety, education, and data abstraction. Reporting to the Associate Director/Director of Medicine Services, the Resuscitation Specialist assists with the oversight of the design, implementation, and evaluation of resuscitation processes supporting education, clinical practice, and quality improvement. Serves as a role model for inter-professional communication. The Resuscitation Specialist assists with program development, implementation, and evaluation related to resuscitation management. Requirements

  • Bachelors of Nursing degree required.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years nursing experience in an acute care environment; a minimum of 3 years experience in critical care nursing required (i.e ICU, RRT/SWAT nurse).
  • Current CT RN license.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Certified BLS, ACLS, and PALS instructor (preferred or completed within 6 months of hire).
  • Get With The Guidelines - Resuscitation Certification preferred or completed within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Lead Coordinator and Department of Medicine leadership, provides clinical leadership and assists with maintaining responsibility for all clinical initiatives and processes associated with Resuscitation Management.
  • In collaboration with leadership, provides vision and leadership in a collaborative environment that offers job satisfaction, recognition, and stimulates innovative thinking to accomplish goals and objectives. Assists in the development of objectives, goals, and strategic plans for the Resuscitation Management program and develops action plans to accomplish set goals/plans.
  • Demonstrates exceptional knowledge and skills that reflect expertise in communication, customer service, professionalism, problem solving, resource management, teamwork, cooperation, and leadership.
  • Ensures a professional work environment and maintains responsibility for professional practice and individual professional development.
  • Supports the development of a curriculum which addresses identified opportunities related to resuscitation management thereby enhancing clinical performance and outcomes.
  • Educates on learning strategies that allow for responsiveness to emerging changes and advances in resuscitation management.
  • Supports the implementation of the resuscitation management quality improvement program.
  • Assists with the monitoring of resuscitation processes at YNHH and provides feedback and recommendations for future performance improvement initiatives.
  • Identifies, recommends, implements, and evaluates best practices using data, analytics, and evidenced based care.
  • Maintains competency as a super-user for computer based applications such as EPIC, GWTG, and other job related computer applications as deemed appropriate.
