About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department is responsible for providing direct nursing care to patients, ensuring their physiological and psycho-social needs are met. This full-time position requires working 72 hours per pay period, typically scheduled for three 12-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend. The role involves accountability for the nursing care of all assigned patients and adherence to hospital policies and standards.

Requirements

• Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Knowledge of etiology, pathophysiology, and prognosis for illnesses and health problems.
• Understanding of the nursing process and management process.
• Familiarity with current developments in nursing and hospital functions.
• Knowledge of bio-psychosocial needs of adult, geriatric, and pediatric patients.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in department specialty preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses and identifies the patient's physiological and psycho-social problems and needs.
• Develops an individualized plan of nursing care for each patient with measurable outcomes.
• Ensures nursing care plan is consistent with the medical plan and adheres to accepted standards.
• Makes appropriate assignments to team members based on patient acuity data.
• Maintains accountability for team members under direction.
• Ensures nursing care adheres to hospital/departmental policies and regulations.
• Demonstrates principles of infection control and collaborates with infection control nurse.
• Participates in the orientation of new personnel.
• Assists clinical instructors in providing learning experiences for nursing students.
• Documents review and/or revision of each assigned patient's plan of care at least every 24 hours.
