About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Flex Pool at Methodist Medical Center is a full-time position requiring 72 hours per pay period on the day shift. The hospital offers a wide range of specialties and is equipped with advanced technologies for treating various medical conditions. The nurse will assume direct responsibility and accountability for the nursing care of all assigned patients, typically working three 12-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend. This role includes a premium shift differential and full-time benefits.

Requirements

• Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Knowledge of etiology, pathophysiology, and prognosis for illnesses and health problems.
• Understanding of the nursing process and management process.
• Familiarity with current developments in nursing and hospital functions, policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Knowledge of the bio-psychosocial needs of adult, geriatric, and pediatric patients.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in department specialty preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses and identifies the patient's physiological and psycho-social problems and needs.
• Develops an individualized plan of nursing care for each patient with measurable outcomes.
• Ensures that the nursing care plan is consistent with the medical plan and adheres to accepted standards of care.
• Makes appropriate assignments to team members based on patient acuity data and maintains accountability.
• Ensures nursing care adheres to current hospital/departmental policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Demonstrates principles of infection control and collaborates with the infection control nurse.
• Participates in the orientation of new personnel.
• Assists clinical instructors in providing learning experiences for nursing students.
• Documents review and/or revision of each assigned patient's plan of care at least every 24 hours.
