POSITION SUMMARY The Pre-Fit Assembler is responsible for the construction of all workpieces to be utilized in the fabrication of the fire apparatus body and/or pump modules. This position operates fabricating machinery such as shears and drill press. Pre- Fit Assemblers must manage the inventory for all material shelves in the department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Strong mechanical and technical ability required.
  • Able to read and work from blueprints/spec books.
  • Able to read and understand a tape measure accurately.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, SolidWorks, and Adobe/PDFs.
  • Able to perform simple computer tasks to obtain information/changes related to the build process and/or troubleshoot.
  • Able to identify quality issues, recognize changes within the production process, and adjust as needed.

  • Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Fits all workpiece parts to be utilized for bodies and/or pump modules.
  • Sets up and operates fabricating machines such as shears and drill presses.
  • Verifies conformance of workpiece to specifications.
  • Designs templates from blueprints to streamline construction process.
  • Ensures that all parts and material shelves are filled with inventory and delivers materials to shelves when needed.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.
