POSITION SUMMARY The Body Fabricator is responsible for the aluminum metal fabrication of multiple components of the fire apparatus’s body. They will precisely measure all dimensions and ensures they are positioned correctly. They must be able to read and follow blueprints/specifications to complete objectives. A Body fabricator welds, sands, cuts, and bolts materials to build the body of the fire apparatus.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Previous welding experience required.
  • 3+ years of previous MIG Aluminum/MIG Steel required.
  • Welding certificate preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and technical ability required.
  • Able to read and work from blueprints/spec books.
  • Able to read and understand a tape measure accurately.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Able to perform simple computer tasks to obtain information/changes related to the build process and/or troubleshoot.
  • Able to identify quality issues, recognize changes within the production process, and adjust as needed.
  • Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.
  • Able to pass a weld evaluation during the interview process.

  • Welding certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricates the aluminum body on the fire apparatus.
  • Precisely measures all dimensions and ensures they are positioned correctly.
  • Reads and follows blueprints and specifications to complete objectives.
  • Welds, sands, cuts, and bolts materials to build the body of the fire apparatus.
  • Checks the work of the blueprints and specifications to ensure that it will result in a workable product.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.
