About The Position

As a participant in the RIT paid Co-Op, you will gain exposure and experience in the healthcare field, specifically in Information Systems & Technology. In this role, you will work alongside analysts and engineers to help build, maintain, and interpret data models that drive key business decisions. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who is passionate about data, eager to learn new tools and technologies, and thrives in an environment where initiative and clear communication are valued.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; you can explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Comfort and curiosity with learning new technologies, platforms, and methodologies on the fly.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Python, R, or similar data tools (coursework counts!).
  • Student of RIT.
  • Background in the field of study which coincides with the department utilizing the co-op.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to data modeling concepts (dimensional modeling, ERDs, normalization) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, or similar modern data lakehouse platforms is an asset.
  • Understanding of KPI frameworks and experience translating business goals into measurable metrics is a bonus.
  • Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing, building, and maintaining data models that support reporting and analytics needs.
  • Explore and analyze datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for insight.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and communicate findings clearly.
  • Document data pipelines, model logic, and analytical processes for team reference.
  • Learn and apply new data tools and technologies as project needs evolve.
  • Work within Microsoft Fabric and OneLake to access, organize, and manage data assets across the lakehouse architecture.
  • Support the development and tracking of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that measure business performance and inform strategic decisions.
  • Contribute to data quality initiatives including validation, cleansing, and standardization.
  • Present findings and summaries to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
