About The Position

This is a home-based role for the Atlanta market, focusing on providing loss control and workplace safety consultation along with OSHA compliance guidance to clients of varying sizes and complexities. The Risk - Safety Consultant must possess a good knowledge of occupational safety, occupational health, and a working knowledge of state and/or Federal OSHA compliance regulations. The role involves evaluating client worksites to identify workplace hazards, assessing the effectiveness of hazard controls, and providing recommendations to enhance workplace safety efforts. Additionally, the consultant assists clients with OSHA compliance, safety documentation needs, and injury and illness protection programs. Onsite safety awareness training is provided as mandated by OSHA regulations, along with virtual training to enhance product/service penetration and client retention. The consultant plays a crucial role in the client acceptance process, working closely with the Sales Team and conducting onsite risk and safety evaluations at prospective client locations. Support is also provided to the Risk Audit team by supplying necessary information for proper classification of client employees. The consultant is expected to deliver service excellence and collaborate with other Client Service teams, including HR and Sales.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or a combination of education and experience.
  • 8-12 years of experience in a relevant field.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Graduate level degree preferred (MS, MBA).
  • Current Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Risk Management (ARM), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification.
  • 10+ years of practical loss control experience as a Loss Control Representative working for an insurance carrier, insurance-related business, or Professional Employer Organization (PEO) or Administrative Service Offering (ASO).

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite safety consultation services to prospective clients and clients within a defined geographic territory by conducting client interviews and onsite hazard assessment surveys.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the client's controls of hazards and exposures associated with their operations and provide guidance on OSHA compliance.
  • Create and provide written recommendations to clients suggesting controls for workplace-related safety hazards and exposures, and assist with the implementation of plans.
  • Develop, modify, and present safety awareness training at client facilities, including live-web-based training using WebEx tools.
  • Document results of all client interactions using eRFP or RAMS in accordance with Risk department guidelines and provide clients with summaries of onsite visit results.
  • Assist the Client Acceptance department with prospective client underwriting by completing presurveys.
  • Mentor, coach, and train Safety Specialist associates to aid in their professional development and provide input into their goals and performance appraisals.
  • Participate in special projects assigned by the Director of Loss Control or designee.
  • Interface with internal associates including the General Manager, VP of Client Services, Client Retention Executive, Finance Executive, Director of Marketing, and Client Relationship Executives to assist with specific client issues related to Safety and Loss Prevention.
