About The Position

At Regions, the Risk Quantitative Analyst is a member of a key strategic team that is responsible for a very wide range of quantitative initiatives that include stress testing and loss forecasting, economic capital, risk ratings, portfolio valuation, optimization, origination strategies, and other portfolio management analytics. This role is crucial in ensuring that the bank effectively manages its market risk and adheres to regulatory requirements. The analyst will be involved in designing, enhancing, and implementing various credit models that utilize mathematical, financial, statistical, econometric, machine learning, and artificial intelligence methods. The position requires collaboration with senior analysts to determine the appropriate credit model to build, often in situations where data is limited or noisy. The analyst will critically evaluate the conceptual soundness of credit models and consider alternative methodologies. Additionally, the role involves assisting in the design of tests to determine whether models function as intended and monitoring existing models for adequate performance. Documentation of models, defending methodological choices, and addressing identified technical issues for independent model validation are also key responsibilities. Collaboration is essential in this role, as the analyst will work with other quantitative analysts with diverse technical backgrounds to share knowledge and implement the most suitable analytical solutions. The analyst will also collaborate with Credit Portfolio Managers, Risk Management, Finance, Treasury, and various lines of business to identify opportunities and credit-related risks in the portfolio, making recommendations on new credit origination and risk mitigation strategies. On occasion, the analyst will offer guidance and advice to junior analysts, contributing to their development and the overall success of the team.
