KemperSports is a leading sports, entertainment and hospitality company with a proven track record of delivering exceptional service and results. We manage and operate a broad portfolio of golf courses, private clubs, sports complexes, and destination resorts across the country. Position Summary: The Risk Manager is responsible for managing the organization’s insurance programs and minimizing exposure to property, liability, workers’ compensation, and operational risks across hospitality operations. This role partners closely with new business development, operations, finance, legal, insurance brokers and claim administrators to implement loss prevention strategies, manage claims, and ensure appropriate coverage for hotels, resorts, golf courses, restaurants, events, and recreational facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, Hospitality Management, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in insurance-focused risk management, preferably within hospitality, real estate, or multi-site operations
  • Strong knowledge of property, casualty, and workers’ compensation insurance programs
  • Experience managing claims and working with brokers and carriers
  • Ability to translate operational risks into insurance and loss control solutions

  • Experience with hospitality-specific exposures (hotels, resorts, golf courses, food & beverage, events)

Responsibilities

  • Manage the company’s insurance programs, including property, general liability, auto, workers’ compensation, cyber, umbrella/excess, professional and specialty coverages
  • Evaluate coverage needs and recommend program structure, limits, deductibles, and risk transfer strategies
  • Coordinate annual insurance renewals, marketing, and negotiations with brokers and carriers
  • Review contracts, leases, and vendor agreements to ensure appropriate insurance and indemnification provisions
  • Oversee insurance certificate issuance and collection, coverage confirmation and compliance for vendors, outings, and special events.
  • Assist with insurance renewals by gathering exposure data, property information and loss histories
  • Work with 3 rd party actuary to complete annual insurance allocation and billing file
  • Other associated compliance activities are required
  • Oversee the claims process for property, liability, and workers’ compensation claims
  • Work with third-party administrators, carriers, legal counsel, and internal stakeholders to resolve claims efficiently
  • Analyze claims trends and develop strategies to reduce frequency and severity
  • Monitor reserves, settlements, and claim outcomes
  • Administration of incident reporting system
  • Develop and implement loss prevention and safety programs across hospitality operations
  • Conduct or coordinate site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments
  • Partner with operations teams to address exposures related to guests, employees, facilities, food & beverage, pools, golf operations, events, and recreational activities
  • Support training initiatives related to safety, incident reporting, and risk awareness
  • Identify operational risks specific to hospitality environments, including guest injuries, property damage, food safety, liquor liability, and special events
  • Maintain incident reporting processes and risk documentation
  • Support business continuity, emergency response, and disaster preparedness planning
  • Track regulatory and insurance compliance requirements
  • Prepare insurance, claims, and risk reports for senior leadership
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for brokers, carriers, and internal departments
  • Support acquisitions, new property openings, renovations, and special events with risk and insurance guidance
