About The Position

Global Wealth Management (GWM) offers comprehensive advice and solutions for the financial and wealth transfer needs of high net worth clients. The Credit Risk function plays a crucial role in assessing and managing credit and counterparty risks across various dimensions, ensuring robust risk management in underwriting, lending, trading, and operational services. As a Credit Risk Commercial Real Estate Associate, within the Real Estate Analytics Group, you'll be responsible for the underwriting of new commercial real estate credits and the management of a portfolio of existing loans/relationships in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in the commercial real estate industry, demonstrated knowledge of real estate underwriting fundamentals, and strong knowledge of credit and lending. Strong analytical skills are required, as are solid communication skills as the role will require the candidate to interact with external clients and present to internal management on new and existing transactions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required; Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Management or STEM related degree
• Min 5 years of consumer and commercial bank lending experience, as well as knowledge of real estate fundamentals and concepts.
• Strong analytic skills and problem solving capabilities, be an excellent communicator, detail-oriented, and organized.
• Thorough knowledge of Capital Markets and Operating Companies.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of JPMC software applications and a broad knowledge of bank products and services.
• Ability to work with individuals at all levels in the organization and contribute to the strategic direction of the firm and the team.
• Experience working in a high production environment while meeting or exceeding agreed upon targets for volume, timing and quality.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate GWM consumer and business purpose credit requests utilizing applicable Credit Risk Policies and Guidelines.
• Analyze individual and business/entity financial statements, public information sources, individual credit reports, and other relevant information to calculate cash flow and balance sheet ratios.
• Utilize ratios and evaluate qualitative factors to determine a client's risk of default following J.P. Morgan Wholesale Risk Grading Methodology to comply with Basel III standards for regulatory risk grading requirements.
• Complete an analysis of the collateral and/or loan covenants/events of default to determine the potential loss in a default situation.
• Identify and clearly articulate risks and mitigating factors that could impact the client's ability to repay the loan.
• Recommend a course of action with clear and concise rationale.
• Engage in regular dialogue with Front Office to obtain required information critical to making a loan decision.
• Negotiate loan structure and terms when necessary and provide alternative solutions when appropriate.
• Escalate credit issues to Credit Executive and provide solution(s) and/or next steps for resolution.
• Manage portfolio responsibilities and ensure appropriate escalation for their respective markets to ensure credit risk is maintained.
• Work with Risk Support and Closing partners to ensure a seamless and timely delivery of credit to the client, while maintaining a strict regulatory and control environment.
