We’re empowering smarter medical and economic decision making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott’s diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people. The Risk Management Engineer is a member of the Systems Engineering team. This position will manage system-level review boards and provide input to technical design teams through risk and requirements management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, Systems Engineering) or related Engineering/Scientific Field.
  • 3+ years of relevant, well-rounded, technical, compliance, or quality experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting risk and requirements management.
  • Demonstrated technical writing and document management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability analyzing and utilizing data to make decisions.
  • Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, creativity, and independent thought.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Experience in a highly regulated environment

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage technical documentation for risk and requirements.
  • Support hardware risk management team.
  • Collaborate with multiple functional areas to ensure design changes are analyzed and documented from a risk perspective.
  • Organize and chair risk management team meetings.
  • Maintain system requirements, user needs, and system designs.
  • Support system evaluation activities.
  • Explain data in a manner consistent with the target audience.
  • Provide technical input to investigation and design teams to mitigate risk and improve product reliability/performance.
  • Assess accuracy and sources of information.
  • Challenge conclusions when necessary.
  • Promote collaboration with various Engineering departments/disciplines (e.g., design, test, software, technology).
  • Coordinate activities with these disciplines to ensure goals are met.
