About The Position

The Risk Management Coordinator is responsible for identification, investigation, analysis and evaluation of risks and the selection of the most advantageous method of correcting, reducing, or eliminating identifiable risk. The Risk Management Coordinator has a general knowledge of facility insurance programs, managing claims against the facility, interfacing with defense counsel, conducting risk management educational programs, complying with risk management related standards (e.g., the Joint Commission and other accrediting and regulatory agencies) with the objective of enhancing and promoting patient safety and quality care. This position requires a thorough knowledge of hospital office procedures and knowledge of departmental/hospital policies and procedures. Frequent interactive contact is required with department directors, members of the medical staff, employees, patients, families, and outside professionals. The position requires the ability to articulately communicate a wide variety of legal, medical, and business subjects as they relate to enterprise risk management with tact and diplomacy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree preferred
  • Healthcare professional, preferably RN or clinical background preferred
  • One or more years of previous experience in risk management, legal or insurance related field, or performance improvement
  • Thorough knowledge of hospital office procedures
  • Knowledge of departmental/hospital policies and procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Florida Licensed Risk Manager recommended
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) desired
