About The Position

Zurich Services (Schaumburg, IL) seeks a Risk Engineering Consultant to provide risk assessment and risk improvement services for customers and business partners in a specialized line of business - plant inspections for boilers and oversee the development of new strategies and programs to improve company competitiveness in risk engineering areas. Specific duties include: providing jurisdictional inspections and machinery breakdown risk assessment services; providing intermediate machinery breakdown consultative services to customers, including identifying exposures with significant loss potential; assessing the quality of complex risks and assessing loss potentials in accordance with agreed definitions; providing appropriate risk improvement advice, conducting loss investigations, and implementing risk improvement programs; sharing technical expertise with colleagues, business partners and customers through trainings; anticipating, recognizing and responding to the needs of customers by providing expert solutions and training; developing and maintaining positive customer and business partner relationships; utilizing established financial systems to assess loss potential to manage and control exposure to the organization; preparing draft manuals based on the accepted changes to policies and procedures; researching primary data sources, selecting relevant information related to ordinary types of risks and making appropriate recommendations to external customers; acting as technical expert supporting external customers; providing specialist risk improvement advice to address specific technical queries from internal clients and delivering appropriate risk improvement programs; and contributing to the Business Operating Profit through opportunity spotting and cross selling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field of study.
  • 2 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Risk Engineer, or similar position within Boiler and Machinery in the Risk Engineering and Safety area.
  • 2 years of experience providing jurisdictional inspections and machinery breakdown risk assessment services for customers and business partners.
  • 2 years of experience providing intermediate machinery breakdown consultative services to customers, including identifying exposures with significant loss potential, investigation of cause/effect of major losses and hazard/machinery breakdown management programs.
  • 2 years of experience providing basic level training for customers, service design and coordination, marketing, and loss investigations.
  • National Board of Boiler Inspectors Certification, Competency Certification, or similar certification authorizing steam boiler inspections.
