As an Associate in Credit Risk at Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in Salt Lake City, Utah, you will assess and manage the risk of loss resulting from the failure of a counterparty to meet its contractual obligations across the firm's trading and credit businesses. You will be responsible for approving transactions, setting credit exposure limits, monitoring adherence to those limits, measuring credit exposure and losses from counterparty default. Your role will involve conducting in-depth analyses related to causes and effects of credit events and performing sector and/or regional (i.e. country) based concentration analyses. You will recommend and defend internal and regulatory risk ratings for counterparts/transactions as required. Additionally, you will perform counterparty research reviews and analysis of corporate counterparts, present findings and recommendations to senior management, and proactively monitor and assess counterparts and industry subsectors based on market indicators, regulatory guidance, rating agency commentary, and counterparty surveillance, reporting relevant information and its impact to senior management in a timely manner.

  • Master's degree in Finance, Computational Finance and Risk Management, Economics, or a related field and one year of experience in job offered or a related role, OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Computational Finance and Risk Management, Economics, or a related field and three years of experience in job offered or a related role.
  • Experience applying accounting methods (GAAP and IFRS) to analyze financial reports.
  • Experience preparing reports on capital calls and financing portfolios.
  • Experience analyzing credit documents such as underwriting memoranda and loan/derivative documentation.
  • Experience with credit regulatory processes such as Shared National Credit or Allowance for Loan and Lease Losses.
  • Experience working with derivatives, loans, and other products that give rise to credit risk.
  • Experience using credit bureau data and other alternate data sources.
  • Experience building financial models in Excel using advanced functionality.
  • Experience utilizing Business Intelligence Software solutions, including Tableau.
