The Risk Control Analyst position at Austin Energy is a full-time role within the Finance division, focusing on monitoring and managing risks associated with fuel and energy trading activities. The analyst will be responsible for ensuring compliance with approved trading and risk management policies, conducting regular audits, and validating historical price curves for risk reporting and portfolio analysis. This role requires the development and implementation of computer models to calculate various risk management performance indicators, including portfolio market-to-market, Value at Risk (VaR), Profit and Loss (P&L), and option valuation. The analyst will also automate risk control processes using advanced software and provide support in evaluating risk control and ERCOT settlement software. In addition to technical skills, the position demands strong analytical abilities to research and advise on technical solutions to risk control issues. The analyst will utilize statistical modeling to track and report on third-party credit standings and work closely with Energy Marketers to reconcile positions and align risk management strategies with market conditions. The role also involves analyzing ERCOT settlement charges, testing new risk calculations, and providing accounting support for wholesale power, fuel, and financial transactions.
