Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Risk and Compliance Counsel, based in any of our West Coast offices (Los Angeles; Menlo Park; Orange County; Portland; Sacramento; San Francisco; Santa Monica; Seattle) and consideration given for 100% remote US locations. The Risk & Compliance Counsel (“RCC”) will join a team of staff attorneys for the firm and be responsible for managing potential risks to the firm posed by the onboarding of new clients, new matters for existing clients, and new personnel. The RCC’s role will include effectively and efficiently analyzing and resolving potential ethical, contractual, and potential major business conflicts of interest posed by new business intake and lateral hiring. The RCC also will be responsible for researching and analyzing issues under applicable laws relating to the firm’s ethical duties and advising on other compliance and risk management issues associated with firm operations, as needed. The RCC will be expected to have excellent analytical and communication skills as they manage a dynamic and often fast paced set of matters and issues. The RCC will report directly to the firm's Director of New Business & Conflicts and coordinate on a regular basis with the firm's Deputy General Counsel and Risk Management Deputy General Counsel, as well as other members of the firm’s Office of General Counsel ("OGC”). The RCC will collaborate with other RCCs and work closely with other members of the New Business & Conflicts Department (“NB&C”), including intake and lateral conflicts analysts.
