We have three manufacturing facilities, 12 corporate-owned retail showrooms, and a global distribution network. We have an opening for a Ripsaw Operator at our Manlius, NY facility. Job Summary: The Ripsaw Operator is responsible for operating various mechanical machines which requires the operator to set up, run, and conduct basic maintenance of the assigned equipment. The Ripsaw Operator may be required to run one or more than one machine at a time and is responsible for dimensional accuracy machined product.

Responsibilities

  • Identify a variety of wood species products including but not limited to the following wood species: Cherry, Mahogany, Oak, Maple, Birch, and Veneers and make grade related decisions on a daily basis based on established standards
  • Reports to their supervisor for direction daily and promptly report any questions or problems
  • Read, comprehend, and full fill production tickets and print scan tags as needed.
  • Read and Interpret part drawings
  • Inspect parts for quality and dimensional accuracy
  • Perform preventive maintenance as required by preventative maintenance sheets and correctly log any and all preventive maintenance done with any corresponding machine problems and or information
  • Set up work in the safest, most efficient manner per specifications and when no other jobs are noted as needed line up jobs in a manner that minimizes setup time
  • Operate assigned machines and mechanical equipment/machines to produce required parts and pieces and achieve defined production goals
  • Must be able to work from a routing and be able to set-up the saws to rip rough cut to specified widths
  • Able to detect and remove any defects
  • Able learn or be knowledgeable of the requirements for ripping random or matched grain components
  • Able to learn and capable of changing saw blades and collars as required
  • Able to move full scrap boxes to grinder as needed
  • Inspect work to ensure dimensions and visual quality is maintained
