About The Position

Responsible for supervising in-house crews and contractors and administering contracts associated with the clearing and maintenance of vegetation on and around Tri-County Electric Cooperative's distribution facilities. Oversee routine inspection processes for overhead and underground facilities to support system reliability and safety. This role leads daily field activities in alignment with corporate initiatives and ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and within budget to support the Right of Way department's operational objectives. Assists in the direct supervision of personnel assigned to the department and responds to emergency situations related to vegetation removal and outage restoration efforts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or graduate equivalency diploma (GED).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in overhead line construction and/or utility integrated vegetation management (IVM), with demonstrated knowledge of electrical operations, construction methods, and safety practices.
  • Ability to work independently with a minimal level of supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred bachelor's degree in Forestry, Arboriculture, or a related field.
  • Preferred experience working with a rural electric distribution cooperative.
  • Preferred FAA Part 107 Certification, or the ability to obtain certification within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage contractor efforts through coordination with the contractor's supervisory personnel and crews to maximize safety, efficiency, effectiveness, and end-product quality per contractual requirements.
  • Perform field administrative duties while ensuring contractual controls, including adherence to technical and administrative requirements (timesheets, project details, budgets, etc.).
  • Proactively manage customer issues by acting as a liaison to key community individuals, special interest groups, and local, state, and federal officials or agencies to ensure regulatory compliance and effectively address concerns related to contracting operations.
  • Maintain a high level of member satisfaction through timely response and resolution of issues. Document actions and ensure consistency among contractors and TCEC employees.
  • Stay current with technical improvements in the industry and contracting field through industry networking and professional publications. Obtain and retain professional credentials by pursuing continuing education opportunities.
  • Ensure annual work is completed in full compliance with contracts, vegetation management and asset management work plans, and within the allocated budget. Assume fiscal responsibility for project assignments and daily emergency work activities.
  • Actively participate in program advancement through completion of special assignments and daily assigned tasks.
  • Support coordination of program functions, including contract scope specifications, field administration and member interface, and implementation of member information initiatives that enhance understanding of utility arboriculture and program objectives.
  • Keep the Business Development/Right of Way Director informed of work in progress and completed work, ensuring ongoing consultation regarding any problems that hinder efficient completion of assigned duties.
  • Work with the GIS Department to ensure proper processes are followed when updating GIS data and verify that updates are accurately reflected in field maps.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Department to review standards and assist in setting specifications.
  • Inform the Operations Department of field-identified needs and assist in long-range system planning as requested or required.
  • Confer with Operations personnel to support proper scheduling of maintenance, operations, and construction activities, and assist in resolving related issues.
  • Coordinate with Operations regarding crews, outages, and equipment, and provide backup support during personnel absences.
  • Operate and/or assist with drone inspections of overhead and underground facilities.
  • Confer with, advise, inform, and direct cooperation with other internal departments to assure compliance with the goals and objectives of the cooperative.
  • Maintain positive, cooperative relationships with members and the public while performing assigned duties.
  • Stay informed regarding new products, contractor services, and updated vegetation management and maintenance procedures to maximize program effectiveness.
