About The Position

We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Right of Way Agent in our Milwaukee, Wisconsin location. This position is represented by Local 2150.Job Summary  Completes the timely purchase, sale and leasing of real estate property and the acquisition of other land rights from private parties, municipal and public agencies for the construction of electric, gas and other utility and non-utility facilities.

Requirements

  • An associate's degree in real estate with 2 years Right-of-Way Agent experience within the last 10 years
  • Nine credits in relevant real estate courses as part of a Bachelor's degree program in business administration, urban planning or related field
  • A bachelor's degree in business administration. urban planning or related field with 18 credits in relevant real estate courses at the technical college level
  • Four years of Right-of-Way Agent experience within the last ten years
  • Right-of-Way agent experience includes: Experience in the acquisition and negotiation of easements, puchase or sale of land, appraisal, relocation or other similar duties related to public or private utilites of public infranstructure projects.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, land surveys and legal descriptions.
  • Official transcripts are required and should be submitted at the time of your application; must be attached to application or provided to HR within ten (10) days of the posting closing date. If you do not have your transcripts, please take the necessary steps to be able to provide them prior to being scheduled for any testing.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate property purchases, sales, easements, permits, and license
  • Manage company owned or leased real estate
  • Work with outside appraisers and attorneys in connection with the condemnation process
  • Obtain and evaluate appraisals, title commitments, title policies and other records
  • Represent the company before public hearings, planning and zoning commissions and boards and informational meetings as needed
  • Prepare easements, deeds, closing documents, legal descriptions, correspondence, reports and various other documents and materials pertaining to the right-of-way and real estate transactions
  • Involves frequent contact with internal and external customers that warrant the use of effective communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • May require more than 40 hours per week and must work some weekend and night hours with overnight stays occasionally necessary
