About The Position

D1 Office of Right of Way has the primary mission of acquiring the real property necessary for the construction of transportation facilities within Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, Lee, Manatee, Okeechobee, Polk & Sarasota Counties. This position will complete the 2-year Level II Right of Way Training Program, which is designed to equip professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage and navigate tasks related to Right of Way. The trainee works with real world situations using knowledge and skills introduced in a specially designed series of courses. Success in the Program is based on passing courses facilitated by FDOT Right of Way in Tallahassee and receiving satisfactory trainee performance ratings from the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Skills in effective written and oral communications.
  • Skilled in the use of personal computers, including a working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to learn Florida State and local real estate laws and regulations, and real estate appraisal and finance principles and practices.
  • Ability to maintain excellent interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and implement appropriate statutory and procedure requirements.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize, and work independently.
  • Ability to make decisions and meet deadlines.
  • A high school diploma or its equivalent and three years of technical experience in right-of-way administration; land management; abstract and title work; property management; or the sale, acquisition or appraisal of real estate other related business experience, such as any role in customer service including retail sales, or registered Real Estate Sales Associate/Broker with two years experience. Post-secondary education can substitute on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in Level II Right of Way Training Program.
  • Provide Acquisition, Propert Management, Relocation, Support and Valuation services assistance as needed.
  • Ensure data is entered into the Right of Way Management System (RWMS).
  • Ensure conformance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Assist in public records requests and related inquiries.
  • Assist in addressing and resolving issues.
  • Attend public meetings/hearings and workshops, and similar forums.
  • Provides support with consultant selection process and contract administration.
  • Assist in development of policies and procedures.
  • Review invoices.
  • Participate in Quality Control reviews.
