About The Position

The Crane and Rigging Superintendent is responsible for compliance with procedures, practices, processes, and activities, required for the safe (i.e., no incidence, injuries, or environmental events), and cost-effective execution of rigging, equipment operations and heavy haul activities across the breadth of Construction Operations.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required. A combination of college level or continuing education in construction technology, and/or engineering related curricula plus 10 years experience preferred.
The required levels of the Supervisors Academy must be completed within 90 days of hire or promotion to this position.
Minimum of four years supervisory experience in petrochemical, power generation or heavy industrial construction technology, methods, equipment, tools and work procedures.
Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control and ability to control and supervise large groups is essential.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Write reports and standard business correspondence.
Draft new and update procedure documents.
Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups that may include clients, company executives and managers, designers, and engineers.
Job success often hinges upon interpersonal communication and relationship development skills, and job tasks require frequent interchange and successful completion depends in large part upon effective interaction and communication with others.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Work entails movements such as bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, or climbing.
Occasionally lifting up to 40 lbs. unassisted may be required.
Work requires the ability to hear normal conversation.
Adequate vision for near or far objects.

Responsibilities

Plan and supervise Assistant Superintendents and/or Craft General Foremen.
Coordinate assigned work with different crafts, departments, or other contractors.
Maintain liaison with engineering, estimating, planning and scheduling to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, cost and schedule.
Assist in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, constructability problems, etc.) as required.
Assure total compliance with EEOC laws, rules and regulations. Report any infractions to management immediately.
Assist the Legal Department with Labor Relations and resolving disputes.
Requisition required manpower from the Craft Personnel and Training Department.
Assist the Craft Personnel and Training Department with training of craft personnel.
Monitor craft compliance with project safety process requirements; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
Maintain liaison with other departments (i.e., Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, Engineering) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule.
Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
Manage craft composite hourly rate.
Manage craft productivity. (Experience Index or E/I)
Manage field change orders (FCO) and request for information (RFI)
