Requirements

  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older.
  • Acceptable motor vehicle record and an attitude conducive to safety.
  • Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with all endorsements.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Acceptable results of a DOT physical.
  • English language fluency, verbal and written.
  • Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check, credit check and drug/alcohol test.

Responsibilities

  • Drive truck or equipment in a safe and careful manner as dispatched, including to outlying locations; travel and work for extended periods as necessary for drill site requirements, customer work orders, and miscellaneous company assignments.
  • Operate bed trucks to transport rig mats, structural components, and other oilfield materials to and from drilling and workover locations.
  • Operate gin trucks, including use of boom, winch, and rigging equipment, to safely lift, spot, load, unload, and place equipment and materials at customer locations and well sites.
  • Follow rules and regulations of the industry as required by the Department of Transportation; maintain current knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Report compliance problems to supervisor.
  • Follow company policies and procedures as required in the Driver and Operator Standards and Procedures and Driver and Operator Point System. Report compliance problems to supervisor.
  • Read and is knowledgeable of Material Safety Data Sheets for all goods being hauled. Know proper handling and disposal procedure for substances requiring specialized handling and disposal.
  • Know and follow the proper safe methods to load and unload freight, machinery, equipment, and materials at customer locations, drill sites, refineries, gas plants, and other worksites as required.
  • Perform basic maintenance requirements such as replacing hoses, fittings, and couplings. Perform miscellaneous emergency roadside equipment repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, and making acceptable temporary repairs.
  • Attach and remove full set of tire chains, multiple times each day as necessary, for maximum safety and efficiency in driving.
  • Keep daily written vehicle and personal records as required; comply with rules and regulations of the Department of Transportation, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and other federal, state, and local agencies; and follow company policies and procedures to maintain and report truck and driver information.
  • Operate standard communication equipment such as telephones, two-way radios and company radios for general dispatching requirements and to receive instructions, report accidents or emergencies, and coordinate changes in routes.
  • May be required to periodically work out of location other than base terminal for special assignments.
