The Rides Supervisor will assist in the supervision of the rides Host working throughout the amusement park. This position directly supports the Rides Manager with efficient operation of the department which provides a positive guest experience. This position’s duties include -- but are not limited to -- assisting with the management of the department, supervising, monitoring, and attending to park rides, including boarding, securing passengers, operating rides, and ensuring passengers exit safely. This position will also conduct daily audits to ensure sure the park’s safety and operating policies are being properly followed. Requirements

  • T her e is no minimum education requirement.
  • 1 + years of previous supervisory experience desired
  • 1 + season of work experience in the Rides Department is . Previous ride operation experience from ot her Amusement/Theme Park emp l o y e rs will also be considered.
  • All Rides Host must go through the International Ride Operator Certification ( iROC ) course as a part of the training. Successful course completion is for this position. T her e is no cost to the Host for the course.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English; Spanish or ot her bilingual language skills are a plus.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with Iowa Child Labor Laws
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to comply with all uniform policies
  • Must possess safety-oriented mindset and understand the importance of complying with all Federal, State, and local regulations regarding ride operation
  • Must demonstrate a willingness to learn and ability to follow instructions
  • Must be guest-focused and also work well with ot her Host and supervisors
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist, kneel, bend, or squat for long periods of time
  • Ability to reach above shoulders throughout the workday
  • Ability to remain on feet for majority of the workday
  • Ability to climb or descend stairs for some coasters, rides, and attractions
  • Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 30 pounds or more
  • Ability to see details of objects that are more than a few feet away
  • Frequent interaction a variety of motorized and chain-driven rides and attractions
  • Frequent exposure to the variable outside t emp eratu res , including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and ot her weat her conditions
  • Frequent exposure to constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, flashing lights, vibrations, and heavily populated environments

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily operations of the Rides tea m and any ot her assigned departments
  • Lead by example, attitude, and as a representation of Adv e nt u re l a n d core values
  • Act as an approachable mentor and coach to all assigned Host
  • Become knowledgeable of performing the essential duties of all rides positions and backfill these positions when needed
  • Participate in all aspects of supervision of assigned host s, including hiring, orientation , training, performance coaching, and discipline.
  • Ensure that all required meal and ot her breaks are being given in accordance with Iowa law
  • Assist with tea m scheduling and timekeeping activities
  • Maintains a vast knowledge of a group of rides in a designated zone of the park and be able to step in at an attraction when necessary
  • Ensu res that attractions open and close at the proper times established by the operational needs of the day
  • Provides direct support to ot her rides Host by making rounds throughout the park to check on their needs
  • Manages guest feedback and escalates complaints or issues to the proper authorities , when appropriate
  • Provides coverage so that Host may take bathroom breaks
  • Enforces Park policies, ride res trictions and ride recommendations
  • Ensu res safe operation of the ride by always ad her ing to standard operating procedu res and established trainings
  • Maintains a sense of calm ness and professionalism during tense, escalated or emergency situations
  • Reports ride related issues and failu res to management promptly
  • Maintains constant vigilance to proactively identify potential hazards and informs park leadership of any concerns
  • Promptly notifies the security team or the park operator of Host and guest injuries or emergencies
  • All ot her duties assigned by leadership
