About The Position

If you enjoy the outdoors and being surrounded by Baseball, this seasonal job is for you! The Comerica Park Rides & Interactives staff delivers premium service to fans in a friendly, pleasant and professional manner at the rides (Carousel and Ferris Wheel). They provide fans with a clean and safe ballpark environment, along with an excellent guest experience. This is a seasonal part-time position.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills and provide excellent customer service, strong communication skills to proactively engage with guests, colleagues and management while always maintaining a positive and friendly attitude.
  • Strong observational skills to proactively identify guest needs and ensure that guests are having a memorable experience.
  • Must be attentive to guest's needs, have full knowledge of all policies, services, and facility locations. (Staff will be trained in these areas)
  • Ability to learn operation of rides.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and be exposed to different types of weather (sometimes extreme weather).
  • Must be able to work long hours, days, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to report to work 2 - 3 hours prior to game time.
  • Rides staff works on average, 5 – 7 hours per event. Hours are dependent on the length of the baseball game, weather delays, extra innings, etc.
  • Must be able to work at least 35 games per season, 50% of holidays, and all concerts.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Candidates must be 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to work long hours, days, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to satisfactory complete a criminal history Background check.

Responsibilities

  • Rides operator colleagues are assigned to a specific ride for each game and maintain proper ballpark standards of guest experience and safety in a fun, family friendly environment.
  • Follow all guidelines applicable to operating the rides, ensuring they are in safe operating conditions and reporting any issues that arise during a game right away.
  • Responsible for checking in and out all necessary equipment each day in the state it was received in.
  • Operate the rides while continually enforcing the policies of the ride to ensure safety and enjoyment.
  • Assist fans as they get on and off the rides.
  • Interact with guests to help promote the ride.
  • When assigned, responsible for collecting payment for each rider via credit card using provided point of sale terminal.
  • Check ticket(s) to ensure it is the appropriate ticket for the ride and explain policy and procedures for the ride or game to each guest.
  • Directing guests on where to purchase ticket(s) for the rides.
  • Greet guests as they approach you and give them a proper salutation after they are done with the ride or interactive.
  • Constantly monitor assigned area for cleanliness, safety, and damaged items, addressing concerns with supervisor/management.
  • Assist in keeping the ballpark clean.
  • Proactively address guest needs by answering questions, giving directions and other information regarding the ballpark and surrounding areas in a timely manner.
  • Never avoiding a guest or leaving a question unanswered.
  • Responds to and resolve guests’ questions, concerns, complaints or suggestions in a professional and polite manner.
  • Recognize and respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Maintains professional use of radio etiquette for communication during games and events.
  • Enforce policies, rules and regulations of the ballpark.
