Requirements

  • This position requires an MD, DO or foreign equivalent degree and two years of related experience.
  • Must also have the following experience:
  • 2 years of experience evaluating, diagnosing, providing consultation, medically managing and treat rheumatology patients including systemic diseases with rheumatic manifestations.
  • 2 years of experience providing medical management of uncomplicated general medical conditions which are encountered in the course of caring for the rheumatology patient.
  • Completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited Residency training program in Internal Medicine.
  • Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited Fellowship training program in Rheumatology.
  • Completion of ultrasound school of North American rheumatologists (USSONAR) training.
  • Completion of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in Rheumatology certification (RhMSUS).
  • Must have valid Minnesota medical license.
  • Employer will accept experience gained concurrently.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, provide consultation, medically manage and treat rheumatology patients including systemic diseases with rheumatic manifestations.
  • Provide medical management of uncomplicated general medical conditions which are encountered in the course of caring for the rheumatology patient.
  • Provide consultative interpretation of laboratory and radiologic tests related to joints, bones, and periarticular structures.
  • Review patient’s medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation.
  • Evaluate, interpret, and coordinate information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care.
  • Provide education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.
  • Work collaboratively with patients to improve their health and well-being.
  • Practice in a thoughtful manner including consideration for cultural diversity, individual autonomy and legal responsibilities.
  • Chart in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope.
  • Actively participate in multidisciplinary team approach to case management.
  • May provide care in an ambulatory clinic or outpatient hospital setting.
  • May participate in on-call rotation.
  • Utilize quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes, or workflows.
  • May participate in peer review and quality assurance.
  • May participate in conferences and grand rounds within Allina Health medical educational system.
  • Utilize musculoskeletal ultrasound and Rheumatologic studies and specific ultrasound-guided joint injection procedures.
