About the position

The RF System Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting ongoing programs by conducting performance assessments across Cellular and WiFi technologies. This position involves monitoring antenna performance, running throughput tests, and collaborating with Apple Directly Responsible Individuals (DRIs) to identify regressions and suggest improvements. The engineer will also be responsible for data collection, processing, and visualization, ensuring high-quality performance metrics are maintained.

Responsibilities

• Monitor antenna performance data collected at CMs including Efficiency, TRP, TIS, and SAR.
• Measure antenna performance in the lab at Cupertino as required.
• Run Cellular and WiFi throughput tests as required.
• Process data, plot results, and create presentations for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Apple DRIs to identify regressions and suggest improvements.
• Calibrate and validate chamber/station setups.

Requirements

• 8 - 10 years of experience in RF testing and performance assessment.
• Experience testing TRP/TIS and throughput in anechoic or reverb chambers.
• Understanding of LTE, 5G NR, and WiFi technologies.
• Proficiency in using RF equipment such as VNAs, Spectrum Analyzers, Power Meters, Base Station Emulators, Channel Emulators, and cSAR/DASY.
• Experience with SAR testing.
• Basic programming and scripting skills for test automation, data processing, and visualization (Python/Matlab/R).
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• 3+ years of industry experience or equivalent.
• Field performance testing of devices.
• Experience working with network drops and packet debugging.
