About The Position

At Apple, we strive to do our best work and push the boundaries of possibility to build products that enrich people's lives. Do you thrive on hands-on, end-to-end involvement in building state-of-the-art cellular SoCs? This role offers a rare opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary microarchitecture team driving RF systems from concept and specification, through architecture, integration, performance, and productization. Join us to innovate cutting-edge wireless system technologies that continually exceed expectations! Description As part of an elite RF microarchitecture team, you will define HW and FW control systems for real-time operation, including transceiver calibration, power management, and more. You will closely collaborate with design and verification teams, RF and cellular systems teams, RFFW and RFSW teams, and system validation and compliance teams to define, design, implement, and bring up wireless systems that deliver best-in-class user experiences.

Requirements

  • BS with a minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Good understanding of communication theory, wireless communication systems, and signal processing algorithms.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Good experience with Matlab, Python, and C/C++ for system development, modeling, simulation, efficient analysis, and automation scripting.
  • Ability to work well across cross-functional teams including digital, analog, radio, verification, HW, SW, and FW teams.
  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team.

Nice To Haves

  • MSEE or Ph.D.
  • Hands-on experience with RF transceiver or similar complex SoC development and bring-up is a plus.
  • Strong technical background in 5G-NR/LTE/UMTS (3G/2G)/Wi-Fi physical layer and protocols is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience in applying AI/ML techniques on real-world data sets to solve complex engineering problems.
  • Demonstrate clarity of thought and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with silicon prototyping, emulation systems, and virtual platforms.
  • Hands-on experience in bring-up of real silicon in lab, and ability to efficiently use lab equipment (such as spectrum analyzer, signal generator, power meter, etc.).RR.

Responsibilities

  • You will define and author microarchitecture specifications for SoCs to meet the requirements of the RF systems and achieve the best-in-class KPIs.
  • Model and implement control flows for modern RF transceivers, including radio, front-end, and DFE.
  • Analyze and develop detailed models that accurately capture architecture functionality for RF transceiver control for on chip and off chip components, and FW interfaces.
  • Collaborate with RF system, RFIC, RFFW, and RFSW teams on microarchitecture definition.
  • Collaborate with design, verification, and system validation teams to ensure successful system-level operation in pre-silicon to achieve bug-free tapeout.
  • You will also play lead roles in pre- and post-silicon verification, validation and bring up of silicon, and support productization.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses — including tuition.
