About The Position

Researches, develops, analyzes, designs and tests Company products using engineering and scientific principles. Translates engineering and scientific concepts from preliminary ideas through product life cycle. Analyzes and verifies product design and performance for adequacy, including reliability. This is an entry-level classification with responsibility for design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • 0 to 2 years experience in an engineering classification performing engineering-related assignments.
  • Company organizations, processes, program plans, policies, procedures, and products.
  • Desktop procedures to ensure documents are maintained under configuration control.
  • Specification format requirements, guidelines, and change control processes.
  • Project management theory, concepts, and principles.
  • Various engineering disciplines – electrical, mechanical, test, material and process, and design.
  • Use personal computing hardware and software.
  • Collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.
  • Determine, apply, and perform necessary math operations.
  • Determine the process to be used to accomplish goals, and properly document processes.
  • Recognize issues, problems or opportunities in work area and determine whether action is needed.
  • Identify need for and collect information to better understand issues, problems, and opportunities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, the applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S. (e.g. Green Card holder), or a protected individual as defined by the International Traffic in Arm Regulations (ITAR).

Responsibilities

  • Develops solutions to technical problems of limited scope and impact.
  • May recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.
  • Applies basic engineering and scientific principles.
  • Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular discipline (electrical, design, materials and processes, test, or mechanical).
  • Performs engineering support for manufacturing programs.
  • Prepares documents for design, manufacturing, and test reviews.
  • Performs technical, cost, and schedule performance evaluations.
  • Researches and develops material and processes that support the translation from abstract concepts to functional products.
  • Integrates technical, cost, value, and safety considerations into the product definition to comply with customer, regulatory, and company requirements; documents results in drawings, data sets, reports, specifications, and supporting data.
  • Interfaces with other members of project or program teams, management, and technical staff to define and implement engineering solutions to meet group, organization, and Company objectives.
  • Supports program or project leaders as a team member and works with customers, teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Responsible for providing support to new business proposal efforts as required.
  • Receives guidance and instructions from more experienced engineers.
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
