About The Position

Tampa Microwave is a leading manufacturer and supplier of Manpack & Fly Away satellite terminals designed and built for the expeditionary user community to guarantee communications connectivity in the most austere environments. Tampa Microwave primarily serves Federal and Department of Defense markets. We are seeking to fill an RF Electrical Design Engineer position located in our Clearwater, FL location. This position reports to the Product Design Manager

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain US Secret Level Security Clearance upon hire as required
  • Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent experience in a related technical discipline required. MSEE degree preferred.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in detailed design, analysis and test of high frequency RF/microwave components commonly used in satellite communication equipment for land-based or mobile ground stations, like: RF power amplifiers, low-noise amplifiers, bandpass & lowpass filters, frequency mixers, etc.
  • Understand discipline for detailed design synthesis & analysis of RF/microwave circuits, high-frequency software simulation tools, network analyzers and spectrum analyzers
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Fluent in the English language- written and oral

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering design, analysis and test of certain high-frequency RF/microwave components and subassemblies.
  • Support senior engineers in the design and simulate a variety of analog and radio frequency (RF) circuitry.
  • Create schematics and lead the PCB Designer to create documentation to build the printed wiring assembly (PWAs).
  • Ability to set-up, operate and calibrate RF and electrical test equipment and perform measurements on prototype circuits, subassemblies and modules.
  • Assist production personnel with troubleshooting problems that are engineering based, resolve the issues and create documentation changes that lead to fix the issue.
  • Write technical documents, for example, test procedures, test datasheets, technical memoranda for reporting any technical issues, etc.
  • Design test fixtures and interfaces required to evaluate and characterize the product.
  • Participate in technical requirements reviews, design reviews and production readiness reviews
  • Understand operation and limitations of DC power supplies used in our products
  • Participate in continuous improvement and team building activities. Maintains productive working relationships with all team members.
