About The Position

Textron Systems Electronic Systems is looking for a Radio Frequency (RF)/Microwave (MW) Design Engineer to add to our team developing state of the art RF/MW assemblies for our rapidly growing business unit. The ideal candidate would have a passion for developing component-level RF/MW and analog hardware designs, along with a working knowledge of digital hardware designs. This Electrical engineer position will be responsible for the detailed design and selection of components and sub-circuits with exposure to the entire hardware design cycle, from conceptual design to production support as well as leading junior engineers to support the development efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree electrical engineering with 5-10 years of MW/RF experience or Master of Science with a concentration in RF/MW Design with 3-5 years of experience
  • Experience designing Integrated Microwave Assemblies (IMA) and the key design elements.
  • Expertise with simulation and CAD tools used in performing RF/MW designs.
  • Detailed knowledge of RF/MW circuit design, analysis, and layout techniques.
  • Background of RF/MW component selection and key design trade-offs.
  • Extensive knowledge of RF/Microwave testing equipment including synthesizers, spectrum analyzers, power meters, vector network analyzers, phase noise test set.
  • Ability to interface directly with engineering, test, manufacturing, and suppliers/subcontractors.
  • Proficiency in designing, specifying, and testing of electrical components, subassemblies, and cables.
  • Ability work with people in a collaborative environment and earn the respect of peers.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with ADS, Genesys, Autocad, Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, or equivalent preferred.
  • Detailed design experience doing printed filters, amplifiers, mixers, and all key RF/MMW components.
  • Experience testing and troubleshooting MW/RF, analog, and digital designs.
  • Working knowledge of key RF/MW manufacturing technology including SMT based designs and hybrid chip & wire designs.
  • Exposure to National Instruments LabWindows / CVI desirable in relationship to automated RF/MW testing.
  • Demonstrated requirements analysis, preliminary design and detail design skills. Strong analog skills.
  • Experience estimating engineering efforts and developing or maintaining project schedules a plus.
  • MS Office Suite experience (PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Project, Word)
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Team player.
  • Self-motivated personality and ability to work independently as well as on a team.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of small RF/MW group designing state-of-the-art integrated microwave assemblies with access to latest technology in RF and MW design.
  • Work as the main engineer designing Integrated Microwave Assemblies (IMA).
  • Support development through component selection, evaluation, simulation, modeling, and testing.
  • Research, simulation, and modeling of individual components and system level designs.
  • Design work ranging from analog and digital circuits, fabrication and assembly, PCB design, hybrid assembly, test, and debugging of electrical assemblies
