About The Position

The RF Analyst Senior Sub (Radar) position is a critical role within the Sustaining Engineering team at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, modifying, integrating, and testing new subsystems for mono-pulse tracking radars. This position involves leading an engineering team and collaborating with multi-disciplined project teams to deliver solutions that meet the needs of the US Space Force and its customers. The role may allow for a hybrid telecommuting schedule after the initial training period, although tasks must primarily be performed on-site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or other STEM related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five (5) or more years of relevant radar engineering experience
  • Experience working with RF components such as local oscillators, doublers, mixers, and attenuators
  • Working knowledge of monopulse radar tracking systems and/or shipboard radar systems
  • Experience with high power tube and solid state RF amplifiers
  • Experience with C-band pulsed Doppler tracking and wideband coherent imaging systems
  • Familiarity with legacy range radar types (AN/FPQ-6, AN/FPQ-14, AN/FPS-16, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of antennas and antenna tracking systems
  • Experience with digital interface design and hardware systems integration and testing
  • Proficient in using specialized test equipment including VOMs, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes
  • Proficient in technical writing for development of technical reports and documentation
  • Experience with computer systems including single-board computers, servers, and workstations
  • Familiarity with Linux and Windows Operating systems
  • Proficient with M/S Office tool suite and CAD software

  • Experience providing inputs for engineering project proposals within defined time constraints
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute new capabilities used by tracking radars
  • Perform complex system modeling, simulation, and analysis to provide appropriate technical solutions
  • Plan, conduct, and assist the project manager in executing engineering projects
  • Coordinate efforts of technical support personnel for assigned projects
  • Analyze, develop, recommend, and implement approaches to meet customer requirements
  • Serve as an interface for project information to internal management and customers
  • Provide leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel
  • Provide expertise to restore operational systems
  • Perform other duties as assigned
