About The Position

The Workforce Program Developer (WPD) reports to the Director of Workforce Training, Professional Programs, and Career Advancement (DWTPPCA) in UNLV Lifelong Learning (LLL), and is part of UNLV Academic Affairs. The WPD is responsible for managing and expanding its portfolio of career aligned workforce training, professional programs, and career advancement courses. This position requires extensive collaboration across the university-especially with faculty and subject matter experts and with external corporate and governmental partners to create pathways of learning that meet the needs of diverse clients throughout their careers. The PD's primary responsibility is to facilitate the creation of new and innovative, career aligned curricula in LLL. In addition, the WPD will provide oversight of curricula and programs ensuring the educational, operational, and fiscal success of the courses and programs within their portfolio. Educational offerings may include non-credit courses and/or certificate programs, course bundles, stand-alone classes, conferences, teleconferences, seminars, corporate contract training delivered online, hybrid, or in-person formats, and a variety of other possible learning opportunities in a variety of modalities. This role manages the lifecycle of programs, from initial conception and research through development, promotion, and launch. It also includes ongoing assessment of the program portfolio and individual courses, adjusting courses as necessary between the end-of-course course/instructor evaluation and the three-year program assessment conducted by the Director of Program Development. In collaboration with the DWTPPCA, campus partners, external partners, and the entire LLL staff, the WPD creates new and maintains existing curricula and programs that are high-quality, innovative, and revenue-generating.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • 1-3 years of experience in a relevant field, including curriculum development experience.

  • 3-5 years of experience in a relevant field, including curriculum development and experience managing non-credit programming at an institution of higher education.

Responsibilities

  • Research, plan, develop, and launch new and innovative career aligned professional development, continuing education, and contract training courses and programs.
  • Oversee curricula and programs to ensure their educational, operational, and fiscal success.
  • Ensure the overall quality of educational offerings within their portfolio, including evaluation, assessment, and quality assurance activities.
  • Identify emerging education needs and propose new offerings to meet the demands of the changing economy, shifting workforce needs, emerging workforce, and new technologies to expand the portfolio.
  • Manage budget and fiscal responsibilities for assigned programs and newly developed programs while ensuring program expenses align with student needs.
  • Professionally represent UNLV Lifelong Learning to all UNLV academic and administrative units and identify opportunities for collaborative projects.
  • Professionally represent UNLV Lifelong Learning to business and industry partners, government agencies, educational institutions, community organizations, and workforce development partners.
  • Recruit, train, evaluate, provide guidance to, and manage all instructors for the programs and courses within their assigned portfolio.
