About The Position

The Review Appraiser position at the NC Department of Transportation involves field and administrative work focused on reviewing and evaluating property appraisals for highway right-of-way acquisitions. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Real Estate, or related field and four years of experience in right of way or real estate appraisal work; or a high school diploma and eight years of experience in right of way or real estate appraisal work, including four years in right of way work.
• Certification as a N.C. State General or General/Residential Real Estate Appraiser.
• Experience analyzing and interpreting data to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Experience reviewing appraisals to ensure fair market value is achieved.
• Experience in staff development training processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and scanning software.
• Ability to read highway plans.

Responsibilities

• Review appraisal reports for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
• Assist management in evaluating fee appraiser applications.
• Analyze and rate the quality of work of fee appraisers.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and agency policies.
• Communicate with landowners, state and local officials, and other highway officials.
