The Parking Operations Planning and Analysis (POPA) division of DOT’s Traffic Operations handles all parking tasks related to the city’s 14,000 meters, mobile parking payment app, eight (8) garages, and off-street parking permits. The Finance Unit monitors, analyzes, reconciles, adjusts, and reports on all the revenue received from all the different sources and payment types, which bring in annually over $270 million dollars in revenue. The Finance group of Parking Operations seeks to hire one (1) City Research Scientist L2 to work in Finance’s Revenue Strategy and Analysis unit as a Revenue Strategist. The selected candidate will be utilizing the internal business intelligence database to properly analyze revenue data on all revenue sources, evaluate revenue projections and provide detailed insight for the decision-making related to the Division’s initiatives. The City Research Scientist will be required to work with very large data files, manipulate large amounts of data, create logic algorithms, conduct research/investigation/troubleshooting of the data, evaluate methods, procedures and data obtained from multiple sources. The selected candidate will become a subject-matter expert tasked with finding the most efficient and expedient mode of handling each assignment and assisting the Deputy Director in coordinating data quality management efforts with internal and external stakeholders. The unit handles both routine reports and special assignments with pressing priorities. All work must be accurate, and complete, and must properly address the needs of the assignment. The candidate chosen for the position must be able to handle data related to parking activities in all boroughs of New York City.
