About The Position

This position performs professional accounting work within a complex revenue structure.  A major portion of time is spent communicating with our license holders and processing returned payments for the Revenue Accounting Section.  Ensures applicable work is processed in compliance with various Florida Statutes relating to revenue collections on behalf of the Department.  Provide assistance and staff support for accurate accounting business processes to ensure work performed is within compliance and standards of the Department (DBPR), the Department of Financial Services (DFS), the Office of the Auditor General, and governmental accounting.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing while under pressure.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others while working independently or as a team.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques and provide written management recommendations.
  • Knowledge of basic math techniques.
  • Ability to interpret rules, laws, statutes and apply them to daily tasks.
  • Knowledge of data collection methods.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Versa Regulation.
  • Proficiency in the use of Excel.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use OnBase.
  • GED or high school diploma.
  • Currently employed with the State of Florida.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a customer service setting.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience reviewing, interpreting or evaluating policy, procedures, rules or statutes.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to those who can demonstrate one or more of the following: an interest in public service and accounting, a working knowledge of an electronic document records system, working knowledge of FLAIR, MFMP, STMS, as well as experience with auditing data and codes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service/phone response regarding returned checks, refunds and other licensing related inquiries.  This requires research in Versa Regulation and FLAIR.
  • Record Miscellaneous sales in Versa Regulation for debit memo accounts, fines and collection of agency fees.  This requires a working knowledge of Versa Regulation, ability to compute non sufficient fund fees and COLA.  Monitor the expectation in Versa Regulation for payment and make the necessary adjustments or deletions of the miscellaneous sale as needed.
  • Process incoming debit memos from State Treasury and assist with processing debit memo repayments.
  • Perform other duties as required.
