Located in downtown Annapolis, the Comptroller of Maryland's, Estate tax and non-resident sales tax section is currently seeking to hire a Revenue Specialist I. The Revenue Specialist I is an advanced level of work reviewing, examining, investigating Estate tax returns in accordance with statutory provisions, as well as corresponding with and assisting taxpayers. The incumbent in this position will examine tax returns and other documents for accuracy and compliance with tax laws, rules and regulations: Determine the accuracy of tax returns, reports and the development of tax liability; Research delinquent accounts; Assist in the development and implementation of methods and procedures for the control and processing of transactions, the maintenance of records and accounts, and the preparation of reports; Assist in the preparation of cases for litigation; Provide tax advice and assistance to public, private or commercial interests; Advise taxpayers and subordinates on changes in laws, rules and regulations; Correct, adjust and amend taxpayer’s tax returns according to the applicable tax laws; Assist taxpayers through telephone or written communications in order to answer their specific questions according to the applicable tax laws.
