The Healthcare Data Analyst key role is to be the connection between our Hospital Patient Accounts team and our internal and external information technology partners. We rely on this role to have an understanding of multiple patient account workflows and processes and how to make changes to programing or create reports to best support our teams in Hospital Patient Accounts. We are a Cerner and IDX/Athena organization so prior experience in these systems would be very helpful in addition to experience with Microsoft Excel, programming, running queries and building reports.

  • Leverage key performance indicators (KPI) to make recommendations around processes improvement areas and workflows.
  • Organize and facilitate projects and initiatives and system implementations; optimize existing systems.
  • Communicate timely to parties regarding project progression, timelines, issues and modification to initial scope.
  • Work with leaders to develop, implement and participate in improvement initiatives around workflow and efficiencies.
  • Make recommendations of possible work simplification related to projects and/or daily operational reports.
  • Publish quality analytics and provide support for department analysis related to system data interfaces and set-up.
  • Research and identify industry trends and stay current on department policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with departments to gain knowledge of internal processes and identify pain points through flow chart design.
  • Incorporate appropriate benchmarking data into analysis.
  • Maintain detailed documentation pertaining to routine operational education of the data design with peers to promote cross-coverage and visual aids.
  • Serve as liaison between Tiger Institute and department on system issues, system testing and ticket management.
  • May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.
  • Four (4) years of experience in healthcare, financial analysis, or a related area.
  • Advanced business intelligence experience.
  • Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
  • MU Health Care Revenue Cycle experience is highly preferred.
