About The Position

The Financial Counselor communicates with the patient to obtain payment, provide payment plan options, offer and discuss financial assistance opportunities. The financial counselor processes submitted applications for assistance and grants approvals based on established guidelines. The financial counselor communicates with the patient to gain additional information and to communicate approval or denial for assistance. The work of the financial counselor supports Centra efforts in the use of foundation funds and appropriate charity designation.

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Minimum of two (2) years' experience in revenue cycle operations or customer service.

Responsibilities

• Communicate Centra's financial policy to patients.
• Obtain, process, and maintain submitted documentation.
• Assist patients with inquiries via email, chat, or telephonically on assistance applications in a timely manner.
• Maintain knowledge of established policies, guidelines, confidentiality, and regulations.
• Monitor, review, and resolve assigned work queue accounts.
• Perform special projects as needed and assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
