Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Health Information Management required
- Experience in healthcare coding, with a proven track record of leadership and team management 8-10+ years required
- Thorough knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and other coding systems, as well as current coding guidelines and regulations.
- Familiarity with coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret coding data and trends to drive decision-making.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire a team to achieve coding accuracy and performance targets.
- In-depth understanding of healthcare compliance and risk management principles.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement coding strategies to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely coding of medical services and procedures.
- Stay up to date with changes in coding guidelines and regulations to maintain compliance.
- Supervise and provide guidance to the coding team, including coders, auditors, and documentation specialists.
- Set performance objectives, conduct regular evaluations, and foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Establish and maintain coding quality assurance programs to assess coding accuracy and consistency.
- Provide feedback and conduct training to improve coding proficiency.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, clinical documentation specialists, and physicians to enhance the quality of medical documentation, ensuring it supports appropriate coding and billing.
- Conduct regular coding audits to identify potential issues, trends, and areas for improvement.
- Develop action plans based on audit findings to address any deficiencies.
- Ensure that coding practices adhere to relevant healthcare regulations, including ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and other coding guidelines.
