About The Position

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer of Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), the Revenue Cycle and Finance Consultant provides strategic oversight of core functions across Revenue Cycle and Finance. Serving as a key member of the HMFP leadership team, this role fosters collaboration and a bridge between both areas, driving initiatives to integrate operations, improve efficiency, and support financial sustainability while enhancing patient care. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required preferably in Business, Health or Finance
  • 10+ years related work experience required in health care revenue cycle and finance, in a hospital or multi-specialty practice setting.
  • Knowledge of health care revenue cycle, including professional billing and reimbursement.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications.
  • Advanced skills with business intelligence, analytic tools to conduct analysis, reporting, and trends.
  • Ability to demonstrate core understanding of third-party billing and collections processes with particular focus on billing cash management requirements.
  • Advanced EPIC and Workday knowledge.
  • A strong business acumen, with the ability to convey the importance of integration points between patient/consumer, clinical and financial / revenue cycle cross-functionally.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support to both centralized departmental operations and decentralized operations and to promote employee development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with subordinates, co-workers, hospital staff, patients, payer representatives, administration, and Board members.
  • Critical thinking, proven analytical ability and organizational skills necessary to organize/assess information and evaluate recommendations based on data analysis.
  • Requires leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support to both centralized departmental operations and decentralized affiliate operations and to promote employee development.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a collaborative relationship between finance and revenue cycle teams to ensure alignment and shared goals.
  • Provides leadership and direction to all Operations staff, to ensure Operations Support activities are executed accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensures adherence to established HMFP policies, government regulations and payer requirements.
  • Provides managerial oversight of core functions and outcomes, including developing policies and procedures, process flows, reports, system optimization, performance monitors and other mechanisms.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot any discrepancies that are uncovered and work with teams to establish a corrective solution.
  • Establishes operational policies and processes for creating a cash reconciliation to reconcile and identify discrepancies between banking files, 835s, and Epic data.
  • Prioritizes and organizes work within department to meet changing priorities.
  • Help identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
