About The Position
The Department of Revenue's (DOR) Compliance Division is seeking motivated individuals to join our Tumwater Use Tax Team as a Revenue Agent 1 (RA1) in-training to a Revenue Agent 2 (RA2). This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in a dynamic learning environment where you will develop essential skills in revenue collection and compliance. The training program spans 18 months, during which you will receive hands-on training in various aspects of tax collection, including communication, negotiation, and investigative methods. You will work closely with a diverse customer base, providing guidance and support in navigating tax-related issues. As a Revenue Agent in-training, your role will involve discovering, investigating, and collecting unpaid taxes using various tools and resources. You will be responsible for self-generating cases of unregistered businesses and taxable personal property, taking necessary collection actions against non-compliant taxpayers, and conducting field investigations at taxpayer locations. Throughout this process, you will maintain detailed records of your interactions and findings in the agency's systems. The position emphasizes the importance of effective communication and the ability to assist taxpayers with business registration and tax return completion.
