Protecting People.” We are seeking Retrofit Sales Engineer – in Training to partner with our experienced retrofit sales team in this environmentally focused industry. A Retrofit Sales Engineer – in Training at Smith and Loveless is in an accelerated position designed to technically prepare you for assuming the role of either a Retrofit Sales Engineer or a Retrofit Sales Manager in 12 months. The Retrofit Sales Associate will successfully complete four training stages of technical product learning. See below for more details.

  • Upon successful completion of the Retrofit Sales Engineer training program, you will be given an assigned territory of representatives to grow the retrofit business with existing Smith & Loveless customers.
  • Interface with consulting engineers, cities/counties and industrial customers in their assigned territories selling retrofit equipment.
  • Require 12 to 15 travel weeks per year to manage representatives and grow the market.
  • Must successfully complete each level of training to move to the next level. Program completion time is one year, not to exceed 18 months.
  • The four training stages will include learning from slide shows, scripts, videos, subject area experts and Socratic feedback in addition to hands-on instruction.
  • Looking for self-motivated and goal-oriented candidates dedicated to learning and keeping on track with the training program schedule.
  • The training program will provide you with all the skills necessary for a successful career in professional technical sales.
  • Training program is subject to change at the discretion of Smith & Loveless.
  • Engineering degree and/or engineering experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in sales, customer service or leadership role is a plus
  • Tenacious, innovative, and possess sales skills.
  • Adaptable to the fast-paced environment of a growing company.
  • Competitive and self-confident but thrives in a team-oriented atmosphere.
  • Cutting-edge delivery of client-focused solutions.
  • Extracurricular experiences (such as team sports, school newspaper, etc…)
  • Required to sit, stand and walk.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Required to talk and hear consistently.
  • Ability to ascend and descend two (2) flights of stairs.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Nation-wide travel required (up to 40%). 2 to 3 days of travel is required during each quarter of training, then up to 15 weeks per year after.
