About The Position

Retrofit Engineer for Mechanical Systems & Structure (Associate or Experienced) Company: The Boeing Company Boeing Commercial Airplanes is looking for a Retrofit Engineer for Mechanical Systems & Structure (Associate or Experienced) to join our Retrofit Engineering - Service Bulletin team in Seal Beach, CA. The positions will support Out of Production (OoP) Models, 747 and 767. Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate and Experienced engineers. Position Responsibilities: Lead and oversee aircraft retrofit projects supporting Service-Related Problems (SRPs), FAA Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Customer Commitments, etc. Research and interpret engineering data to define retrofit requirements using drawing specs, CATIA/CAD models, Installation Plans (IP, CARMS), and maintenance documents (AMM, SRM, SOPM, etc.). Research engineering data using tools and databases such as IVT, WIRS, CATIA, ENOVIA, REDARS, PSDS, and ECAS/IBEX. Develop and manage Retrofit Kit using PDM/ENOVIA. Apply extensive knowledge of customer retrofit requirements to develop improved solution that is tailored for customers. Ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate retrofit solutions and able to influence changes as needed. Support various program leadership, change process and customer meetings to influence retrofit decisions. Develop, review and/or approve Service Bulletin, Information Notice, and Alternative Method of Compliance (AMOC). Provide response to customer service requests (SR/BCS) related to Service Bulletin including COSP/Safety Assessment, determine Service Bulletin error engineering solutions, requested additional information or data, RDR/AMOC support. Able to effectively communicate with external and internal customers as required. Occasionally travel is required to support on-site Service Bulletin Validations and requested Technical Assistant, with travel not exceeding 10%. Make use of and apply extensive knowledge of various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, software and/or systems. Work under minimal direction. Willing to stay late or work on weekend/holiday occasionally to support Retrofit Work and/or Airline Reported Issues. Work Authorization Statement: This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at our Seal Beach, CA location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement . In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
  • 2 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 or more years’ of experience working directly with 7-series aircraft is preferred.
  • 3 or more years’ experience in Design Engineering, Service Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, or Customer Support is preferred.
  • Knowledgeable about Airplane Maintenance Standard such as ATA iSpec 2200 and/or S1000d is desired.
