About The Position

The position is responsible for the administration of various retirement plans at Yale-New Haven Hospital, including defined benefit, defined contribution, and hybrid retirement plans. The role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, providing employee counseling, and developing educational programs to promote financial wellness and effective benefit utilization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Administration or related field, or related experience and/or training.
  • Two (2) to three (3) years experience in the administration of defined benefit and defined contribution retirement plans.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, and pension administration software.
  • Ability to understand and interpret benefit plan documents and applicable IRS code and ERISA requirements.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good mathematical and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to function well in a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in all administrative aspects of the retirement security program, including the Cash Account Pension Plan, 403(b) plan, and 401(a) plan.
  • Utilizes and maintains a pension administration system to calculate benefits and perform regular audits of the database.
  • Produces pension calculations and communications for retiring employees and processes pension distributions or rollovers.
  • Responds to retirement benefits-related inquiries from employees and retirees, resolving issues as needed.
  • Counsels employees on initiating pension and post-retirement benefits, including Social Security and Medicare.
  • Processes 403(b) plan hardship withdrawals and Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs).
  • Identifies employee educational needs and develops communication and training media, including workshops and seminars.
  • Develops data for annual non-discrimination testing and completes Form 5500 and PBGC filings.
