About The Position

The Retirement Sales Consultant - Large Market is responsible for driving new business development efforts in partnership with Regional Sales Directors. This role acts as the quarterback for all sales opportunities, focusing on articulating Empower's capabilities, problem-solving market trends, and leading proposal efforts to secure new clients in the large market sector.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • 3-5 years of business experience managing multiple, complex projects under tight deadlines.
  • High degree of professionalism and knowledge of the retirement plan services industry.
  • FINRA Series 6 & 63 and applicable state insurance licenses required within established timelines.

  • Front office experience working with intermediaries.
  • Telephone sales or service experience in the financial services industry.
  • Negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work in partnership with Regional Sales Directors on new large market business development efforts.
  • Articulate Empower's capabilities and differentiate from competitors.
  • Problem-solve for market trends and hurdles to increase deal opportunities.
  • Lead the effort on proposals including RFIs, RFPs, and pricing requests.
  • Manage RFPs through the sales process, ensuring alignment with Empower's strategic business model.
  • Filter opportunities with the BAC to eliminate those not fitting Empower's model.
  • Provide high-quality responses to RFPs demonstrating understanding and interest in serving prospects.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to complete pricing schedules and devise sustainable pricing.
  • Determine creative solutions for unique prospect requests in plan design and administration.
  • Skillfully negotiate with internal and external partners to influence outcomes.
  • Analyze fund lineups for asset management placement.
  • Manage all aspects of site visits and finals presentations, ensuring differentiation from competitors.
  • Work with marketing to create tailored meeting materials and presentations.
  • Maintain and update Salesforce with information on opportunities and sales activity.
  • Follow up on wins and losses to communicate reasons for outcomes.
  • Brief senior management on opportunities, characteristics, progress, and outcomes.
  • Develop and grow intermediary relationships through phone and email contact.
  • Provide backup coverage for RSDs in responding to intermediary inquiries.
  • Update regional intermediary databases with Empower's latest offerings.
  • Increase brand recognition through calling and mailing efforts.
  • Manage or participate in sales-related projects and initiatives as required.
