About The Position

As a Retirement Plan Payment Specialist, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring that retirement plan participants receive their benefit payments accurately and on time. Your work supports both the technical and personal side of plan administration — helping employees access the savings they’ve worked hard to build.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of customer service experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred (ideally with a concentration in Accounting, Finance, Math, Economics, or Statistics)
  • Provide quick and timely customer service
  • Comprehend and explain complex information to others
  • Aptitude in accounting and math
  • Must be able to quickly address, research, and solve problems
  • Meet deadlines and manage dynamic workloads
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for learning and professional development
  • Maintain excellent organizational skills
  • Successful completion of a background check

Responsibilities

  • Respond to questions from clients and referral sources in a timely manner
  • Be an advocate for Blue Ridge Associates in all interactions
  • Accurately interpret plan documents to determine eligibility for participant transactions (e.g. loans, distributions, QDROs, etc.)
  • Intake, review, process, and complete transactions in a timely manner
  • Enter distribution information on required tracking lists and software (e.g. 1099-R, internal checklists, etc.)
  • Calculate, prepare paperwork for, and process Required Minimum Distributions
  • Coordinate with other service providers (e.g. financial advisor, investment company, CPA, payroll, actuary, etc.)
  • Continually develop and increase knowledge of retirement plan rules and regulations (attend webcasts, department meetings, pursue credentials, continuing education, etc.)
  • Review team member’s distributions for accuracy
  • Send required notices and distribution packages
  • Process mandatory distributions
  • Set up automatic rollovers for eligible participants
  • Assist with requests from other members of the Blue Ridge Associates team
  • Identify opportunities for improvements to our company
  • Participate in working groups to enhance the organization’s work product and internal processes
  • Maintain the company’s tools and resources (e.g., company intranet, databases, etc.)
  • Contribute to changes that positively impact the organization
  • Perform other tasks and projects assigned
