Provide support in the key functional areas of Retirement including the administration of the defined benefit plans, including pension calculations and administration, benefit payments, and retiree welfare benefits; and/or of the defined contribution plans, including payroll contributions, reconciliations, reporting and working with the TPA for all contribution plan transactions. The following states are currently paused for sourcing new candidates or for new relocation requests for current caregivers: California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington. Experience in human resources and knowledge of the retirement industry, roles, and terminology is a required skill set for this position. Candidates have to have knowledge of related laws and regulations. Essential Functions Responsible for assisting caregivers, participants & retirees with specific inquiries and processing retirement related transactions. This includes proving support and strategic direction to HR Business Partners, Leadership, Caregivers and Retirees in the key functional areas of Retirement including the defined benefit plans (including pension administration & benefit payments), the retiree welfare benefits plan (retiree medical, dental, life, and legal insurances) and the defined contribution plans (payroll contributions, match, 2% contributions, maximizing contributions & plan administration). This also includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving caregiver & retiree requests. Reporting to the Retirement Supervisor, this position is a combination of an operations role and a consulting role responding to Solution Center retirement inquiries from caregivers, participants & retirees across the Intermountain Healthcare system. Consultants comply with all ERISA, DOL and IRS regulations and guidelines pertaining to defined benefit and defined contribution plans and adhere to department values, policies, procedures, and security / confidentiality requirements and best security practices. Responsible for ensuring compliance with plan documentation as well as safeguarding Intermountain Retirement plan assets by accurately and efficiently processing retirement transactions, answering questions, and resolving concerns. Interacts with retirees and others to consult and educate and follows up on requests for information or research in an efficient and timely manner, documenting pertinent information into case management system including all actions taken and final resolution of escalated cases. Provides navigation support and coaching to caregivers, participants, and retirees on how to use the self-serve portal. They demonstrate a thorough understanding of the pension plan and are responsible for running pension calculations (vested terms, mandatory cash outs, and retirements), determining vesting and benefit service requirements and researching problems or discrepancies. Follows up on any missing documentation directly with caregiver or retirees and research participant data discrepancies, errors, & issues. Demonstrates an understanding of the retiree welfare benefits, including coverages and premiums with plan providers on the medical, dental, and life insurance for our retirees and communicates changes and updates to retirees and participants. Demonstrates an understanding of Defined Contribution Plans 401(k), 403(b), 457(b) & 457(f), matching contributions, the 2% noncontributory contribution plan, and eligibility. Queries the pension and / or trust systems and calculates and inputs adjustments into payroll system as needed for contribution max outs on pending retirees' final payments of PTO and LTI cash out balances.
